Some situations may require a very simple method of leaving a message for someone - in days gone by we'd put a note on the fridge, however now that mobile phone use is almost ubiquitous - a new option is possible which has been demonstrated by enthusiast Saddam Khan.
His solution was to interface an Arduino, GSM module and an LCD display to create a simple device that can display the content of a text message sent to the account used by the GSM module. A quick demonstration is shown in the following video:
